Batter Up…
Welcome! We’re going to have a lot of fun here and I’m so glad you’re along for the ride :)
I’ve been a baseball fan my entire life and a baseball mom for the last 12 years. My goal with this blog and my upcoming podcast is to create a community for us moms to gather, learn, share and grow, all in an effort to create more joy in the journey. Embrace the chaos and focus on what really matters - our kids!
So a little bit about me: I have two children, both of whom will be in college in the fall. I love where I live because I have access to everything - New York City, beaches, mountains, all within 90 minutes of my house. I have had a long, varied career path, spending time in the radio, the non-profit world, and, most recently, owning my own athletic training facility which included oversight of several baseball teams ages 8 through college. Besides being a baseball mom to my son (and countless other kids who played for my organization through the years), my other mom side hustles have included being a stage mom when my daughter was a working child actress, and being a staunch advocate for children with food allergies.
I’m not a DIY person or a mom who does crafts. I wish I was, because it looks fun and it’s a very “mom” thing to be, but I’m just not good at that stuff. I don’t have the perfect Pinterest porch. I actually don't even have a Pinterest account. I love to cook but I can’t bake. I have two planners that I use religiously. I meal plan when I can, but I’m also on a first name basis with the guy at the Wendy’s drive through. Bottom line is I’m busy. So are you. I want to connect us with people, products, brands and systems that will make our lives more fulfilling and enjoyable, leaving time to savor the moments on and off the field that come and go too quickly to begin with.
I also want to tackle some important topics like how to protect your kid from Daddy Ball politics, how to appropriately talk with a coach when you’re upset, and how to plan and organize the best fundraisers for your teams. We’ll talk about team mom responsibilities, the college recruiting process, destination tournaments and life in hotels, pros and cons of playing up and so much more.
If 2020 taught us anything, it’s that we really do need to rely and lean on each other, not only in times of crisis. I look forward to sharing what I know with you, as well as learning from others along the way.
Why the name “Dirt on My Diamonds”? Because, to me, it sums up my life. Especially as a baseball mom. It’s beautiful, but sometimes messy. Let’s get this party started!
